What is THCp?

THCP, or tetrahydrocannabiphorol, is a lesser-known cannabinoid that has recently gained attention due to its potential potency compared to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. THCP was first discovered by Italian researchers in 2019.
Like THC, THCP interacts with the endocannabinoid system in the human body, particularly with CB1 and CB2 receptors, although its effects are not yet fully understood due to limited research. Initial studies suggest that THCP may have a higher binding affinity to these receptors compared to THC, potentially leading to stronger psychoactive effects. However, further research is needed to confirm its potency and effects in humans.
Hemp-derived THCP refers to THCP extracted from hemp plants. Hemp, a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species, is legally defined as containing very low levels of THC (typically less than 0.3% on a dry weight basis) in many jurisdictions, including the United States. However, it's important to note that THCP is a different cannabinoid from THC.
